Gemma von Gerde is a delightful 15 month old German Shepherd.  These black-masked dogs often have the alert, intelligent look that Gemma has.  If a dog could do cartwheels, Gemma would do so on walks – she is so happy, excited and confident to stretch  her legs and experience the big city.  She pulls at time on leash but readily responds to correction.  With a medium-to-high energy level, Gemma is an enthusiastic, social girl who will thrive in an active household that includes her in their activities.  On the other hand, she knows when it’s cuddle time and will shift gears accordingly.  Gemma is very energetic in doggie playgroups and enjoys playing with any dog who will oblige her.  Her previous owner told us that Gemma is “crate-trained, very active, eager to please and likes car rides.”  She is a protective girl who will react to strangers. Gemma will do best where someone is home most of the time, as she doesn't love being left alone much.  No livestock for Gemma and no small children, as she can be playfully mouthy.
